Playful enthusiasm, improvisational spontaneity, and fearlessness towards stylistic boundaries - that is Invisible Ink: a new trio formed by Dennis Brandner (saxophone), Philipp Kienberger (bass), and Hubert Bründlmayer (drums, percussion). In this perennial format, they attempt to explore and expand the capabilities provided by the stripped-down instrumentation, inviting listeners to feel infatuated, surprised, and, ultimately, immersed in the sonic landscape of their compositions. The three musicians draw their inspiration from the musics of the world and the scenes surrounding them in New York and Vienna. The restlessness of their environments furnishes their pieces with an enthralling virtuosity, which is now also preserved in the form of their first live album Invisible Ink: Live at Radiokulturhaus Vienna. There is room for ideas; at times bustling and loud, sometimes cool-headed and relaxed, but never at the expense of their organic development. Finding stillness in contradictions and weaving together effortless melodies, Invisible Ink try to surprise themselves - and their listeners - in the process. |
